Send something for review
How to ask, who you can ask, and what to do when nobody answers.
A review in ANVL is a request attached to the material itself, not a message in a chat. That is the point: the answer stays with the thing it was about, so in three weeks nobody has to remember which thread it was in.
Asking
A presentation is sent from inside its editor. A page or the brand itself is sent from the Review page, where you pick the material first.
Anyone in the workspace can ask. You do not need a special role to want a second opinion.
You choose who it goes to. If you have set up groups, you can send to a group instead of ticking off people one by one — see Workspace and roles.
Who you send it to
Anyone you work with. A colleague, or a group if several people should see it. Whoever you send it to can answer it — reviewing is not a role, it is being asked.
If you do not name anyone, it goes to the workspace's admins. That is the sensible default when you want somebody to look rather than a particular person.
Admins can answer anything in the workspace whether or not you sent it to them, which is what makes them a working fallback when the person you asked is away.
If you are not an admin you cannot approve your own request — not even by sending it to a group you are in. Admins can, which is deliberate: a workspace with a single admin is the normal case, and the alternative would be work that nobody at all can approve.
Where it stands
The review page shows what you sent, and — when there is something waiting on you — a second lane for that:
- To review
Things waiting on you. If you are an admin, this is your queue.
- My requests
Things you sent, and what came back.
The rail carries a count while something is waiting on you, and opening the page clears it.
When nothing happens
Two things you can do without chasing anyone in person:
- Remind
Nudges the same recipients about the same request. It does not create a second review, so their queue does not fill up with duplicates of your thing.
- Withdraw
Takes your own request out of the reviewers' queue. It stays in your own list, marked withdrawn, so there is a record that you asked. Only you can withdraw it, and only while it is still waiting for an answer.
