Brand kit
Your colours, typefaces, logo and image bank in one place. Everything ANVL makes for you starts here.
The brand kit is the middle of ANVL. A deck, a post or a page is not styled after it is made — it is built from the brand kit in the first place. That is why a thin brand kit gives thin results, and why ten minutes spent here is worth more than an hour spent correcting what comes out.
Anything you leave blank, ANVL decides for you — and not necessarily the same way twice. Two decks made the same week can end up looking like they came from different companies. Filling a section in is how you stop deciding that by accident.
What it holds
Eighteen sections, in one place. The ones you will touch most:
- The company
What you do and who for. This is what makes ANVL's writing sound like it knows your business rather than your industry.
- Colors and Typography
The palette and the typefaces. Everything visual is built from these two.
- Logo
The versions of your mark, and which one is used where.
- Tone and Messaging
How you sound, and the things you say often enough to want said the same way each time.
- Guidelines
Rules in both directions — what to do and what never to do.
- Image style
What your pictures look like, so generated ones look like yours.
There is also Feel, which carries your style direction and a tone-of-voice line, and the details that make output feel finished rather than generic: colour rules, spacing, corner radii, shadows, signature elements, logo rules, legal text, your social links, and channel rules for each place work goes — LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, presentations and email.
Where you edit it
Everything lives on one page — Brand Kit → Brand. One editing surface, so there is never a question about which copy of a value is the real one.
Several brands
A workspace can hold more than one brand — what you want when you run more than one label, or when an agency runs ANVL for several clients. Each has its own colours, type, tone and image rules.
One of them is active at a time, and everything you make uses the active one. There is no brand chooser inside the presentation flow, so set the right one first.
Two controls look like they do this and only one does. The picker at the top of the Brand page changes which brand you are looking at and editing. To change which brand your work is made from, go to Brand portal and press Use beside the brand you want.
If you get it the wrong way round, nothing is lost: a presentation can be moved to another brand afterwards with Change brand in its menu, which makes a copy on the new brand. See Changing your brand later.
What to do first
Fill in the sections that change the most for the least effort: the company, your tone, and your image style. Those three are what stop output reading as generic.
If your brand was set up from your website, most of this is already filled in and the work is correcting rather than writing — which is much faster. Getting a site read for you is something ANVL does at setup; ask us if it was missed.
